This case study will detail the design of a performance-based solution for a fixed fire suppression system in the Eisenhower Johnson Memorial Tunnels along the Interstate 70 corridor in Colorado. The design of this system included performance-based fire modeling in conjunction with live fire testing validating the performance of the suppression system. Members of the design team and project management group will discuss the process of using the provisions of the RFP, NFPA 502, for the design of a fixed fire protection system, live fire testing, and the process of installation and commissioning.
