Fire Protection Engineer/Designer
Location: Arvada, Colorado
Summary Description: As a member of the Fire Protection and Life Safety Division, this position will conduct a wide variety of technical work related to the design and review of fire protection and life safety systems in different occupancy types.
Key Responsibilities:
- Building and Fire code consulting with large scale projects and complex fire protection/life safety systems and issues
- Fire sprinkler design
- Engineering judgments and developing code alternatives
- Commissioning and testing of fire protection systems
- Provide consulting and high-level communication with clients and Building/Fire Authorities
- Participate in business development initiatives to expand and develop fire protection and life safety services
Required Qualifications:
- Degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related engineering discipline
- A minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience in fire protection (or closely related engineering discipline) with additional mid-level to senior-level experience preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience and relationships with building and fire code officials
- Self-motivated and able to work independently with multiple priorities
- Strong time management skills
- Knowledge of CAD, REVIT, AutoSPRINK or similar design programs
Desired Qualifications:
- Life safety (code) consulting experience
- Fire alarm system design experience
- Hazardous materials analysis and industrial processes
- Fire, smoke and egress modeling
