Network Systems are generally (not always) procured and installed by a facility owner, but because these systems make use of the communications infrastructure systems, BCER has developed a proven process for successful coordination and design.  These systems include:

  • Data Network
  • Wireless Network (including Wireless Survey to determine WAP locations)
  • Power-over-Ethernet (part of the Data Network)
  • Voice Network/PBX (including Intercom)
  • Data (IT) Equipment (such as computers, notebooks, and servers)

An In-Building Wireless System (also known as a Distributed Antenna System) uses cables, amplifiers, and antennas to distribute wireless signals throughout a facility.  An IBW also ensures that specific signals from outside the facility are redistributed inside the facility in order to provide coverage throughout, and vice versa. The IBW can be used for Public Safety/First Responder, Facility 2-way Radio, Personal Communications Services (PCS) (Cellular Phone services from multiple operators), and Wireless Pager systems.
