Colorado Mental Health Institute – Pueblo

This project entailed the evaluation of 36 existing buildings totaling 950,000 square feet; the assessment of the central plant and delivery systems for chilled water, high- pressure steam and hot water throughout the campus; the assessment of the high voltage electrical distribution system; the evaluation of the facilities for future ADA compliance; and the evaluation of communication system installation.

The project required an in-depth field survey that took 6 man weeks to complete along with coordination with Staff Personnel of CMHIP. This information, along with the engineering assessment, was then translated in conceptual design options for each building with various scenarios and coordinated with the team’s professional estimator in order to forecast costs. The project was well received with the Department of Human Services and touted by the State Legislature as a quality document for future planning.

Upon completion of this study the design team was commissioned for the design and construction of this facility located in Pueblo, Colorado.

200 Bed High Security Forensic Institute- CMHIP

BCER Engineering has completed Design of the Mechanical and Electrical systems for this 200-bed facility for the Institute of Forensic Psychiatry located at the Colorado Mental Health Institute in Pueblo, Colorado. The new facility is divided into nine wards. The new building also includes a patient intake function, extensive program and treatment areas, a clinic, entry/control and visitation spaces, recreation therapy area and completed food service supported by the campus central kitchen operation and administrative areas and support spaces.
