DEN West Area De-Icing Pad and Control Building

BCER provided the Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Services for the development and construction of the new West Area De-icing Pad located southwest of Concourse A for Denver International Airport. This included the design of the Glycol Holding Tanks, Dispensing System, all glycol piping systems, control systems, and the 2,500-sf Control Building. Also included in the project was a state-of-the-art de-icing waste recovery system. Beyond monitoring flows in the collecting pipes and sampling and testing the percentage of glycol, this system opens various gates to deliver the water to the wastewater treatment facility or to storage for recycling. This eliminates the need for DEN maintenance/facility personnel to drive to the collection points in order to measure the glycol percentage and manually operating the gates for recycling.
