17th Annual Fire Hose Race Update!

Children’s Hospital Burn Camps Program, established in 1983, caters to the psychological and rehabilitation requirements of children and families who have suffered burn injuries. It offers challenging activities and fosters lasting friendships and mentorships.

In 2007, the Colorado Fire Protection Association introduced the Fire Hose Race at A-Basin. It started as a mere idea, but over the years, it has grown into a significant annual event. Since 2013, the event has been organized by BCER and has become a major fundraiser. As the organizer, BCER has been responsible for donating over $225,000 to the Burn Camps, making the ski race one of its top five contributors. This years race was held on February 23, 2024; it was a resounding success, with 21 sponsors, 5 firehouses, 16 volunteers, and 34 teams participating in the competition for the coveted traveling trophy.

We are excited to share that with a donation of $26,000, we will be able to send ten children to Estes Park camp in June. For every $1,650 raised, we can send one child to the camp, and we are proud and humbled to have the opportunity to send ten kids this year. We are grateful for everyone’s generous support and their willingness to serve.
