Aspen Valley Hospital
BCER Engineering is currently providing Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection Engineering services for the Phase III expansion and renovation of the Aspen Valley Hospital. The intent of the master plan of this facility is to transform Aspen Valley Hospital into a progressive, outpatient-oriented, user-friendly medical center. The overall Master Plan consists of four major phases totaling $100 million. This involves the phased remodel and expansion of the existing 70,000sf one-story community hospital into a three-story, 200,000sf medical center for the future; Phases 3 and 4 total over $55 million. The phase 3 & 4 expansion and renovation consists of approximately 55,000sf of new programmed space and 22,000sf of renovation.
One of the major project goals is to achieve a LEED Silver certification, or better. In addition to LEED certification, the project is seeking compliance with the City of Aspen’s “Canary Initiative”, which stresses that all new buildings in Aspen produce a zero carbon footprint.
Major components of the plan include a 15,000sf surgery department; 7,000sf of outpatient clinics; 7,000sf of physical therapy; The Aspen Birthplace, a new patient care unit; cardiac rehab/cardiopulmonary suites; an orthopedic sports medicine center of excellence and up to 30,000sf of medical offices.
