St. Anthony’s Hospital – Colorado Retina MOB

BCER Engineering partnered with St. Anthony’s Hospital to provide Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) design services for a specialty eye care medical office build-out serving Colorado Retina.

The project consisted of a 17,000-square-foot interior build-out within an existing shell space, transforming it into a fully functional, patient-centered eye clinic. The facility includes exam rooms, specialized procedure and testing spaces, staff work areas, a laboratory, conference rooms, and support spaces designed to enhance both patient care and staff efficiency.

A key focus of the project was creating a comfortable and highly controlled clinical environment. Exam rooms were designed with enhanced lighting solutions, including dimmable overhead lighting and integrated cabinet toe-kick lighting to improve both patient experience and clinical precision.

In response to evolving healthcare standards, the design also incorporates advanced infection-control strategies. These include touch-free plumbing fixtures, a bipolar ionization system to improve indoor air quality, and Indigo-Clean lighting technology, which uses safe visible light to continuously reduce harmful bacteria in staff areas such as break rooms and restrooms.

Through thoughtful design and the integration of innovative technologies, BCER helped deliver a modern specialty clinic that prioritizes patient safety, clinical performance, and adaptability in a post-COVID healthcare environment.
