DPS – Steele Elementary School

In 2001, an addition to the kitchen and lunchroom at Steele Elementary School was completed under a Design/Bid/Build Contract. The facility was originally constructed in 1906, and the 7,000-sf addition required the upgrade and modernization of the existing building electrical service and distribution system, fire alarm system, clock program system, and PC network wiring management system. Throughout the project – including BCER’s contribution of Mechanical and Electrical design – sensitivity to the historic nature of the building was especially important and required extra consideration in the design of the addition and its systems.
