University Physicians – Admin Building and Data Center I & II
University Physicians, Inc. (UPI) is the multi-specialty group practice of faculty physicians and ancillary healthcare providers at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. After completing the technology design of a new 120,000-sf administration building and 1000-sf data center located just off the Fitzsimons campus in Aurora, Colorado, BCER was reengaged in 2009 for a second facility of 196,000 sf and data center of approximately 1200 sf. BCER provided the same services as on the first facility, including the management of the data relocation and cutover. The relocation and cutovers for both facilities were completed successfully with minimal complications, and the project was completed in 2010. This project required technology engineering services that were both complex and comprehensive. Services included design, preparation of contract documents and RFPs, and construction administration of the telecommunications infrastructure systems (including structured cabling, pathways, telecommunications rooms, and equipment room), high-performance data centers, the data network systems (CISCO), the voice (VoIP) systems (NEC) and network dialing plans, service providers’ (outside connectivity) and DS3 connectivity to UPI’s affiliates (University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, University Hospital, The Children’s Hospital – all located on the Fitzsimons campus), security and access control systems, integration with the data monitoring systems for the data center, and various other low voltage/communications systems.
