AHEC – Science Building

BCER Engineering provided the Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Design Narrative, Construction Documents, and Construction Administrative Services for the renovation and expansion of the main science building on the Auraria Higher Education Campus.  The project was delivered in two phases; new construction and renovation.  The renovation required a complete upgrade and modernization of the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems throughout the existing 120,000 square foot science building.  The addition totaling approximately 180,000 square feet was comprised mostly of new classrooms, laboratory, and office space.  The new facility provides state-of-the-art laboratory and classroom space for the Chemistry, Biology, and Physics departments for the three main colleges located on the Denver campus.  The addition and renovation followed the LEED for New Construction Version 2.2 guidelines and both were Certified LEED GOLD.
