Eisenhower Johnson Memorial Tunnel (EJMT)
Rondinelli Life Safety and BCER Engineering provided Fire Protection Engineering for the Fixed Fire Suppression System for the Eisenhower Johnson Memorial Tunnels along the I-70 Corridor in Colorado. This project is a $20,000,000 fire protection project that required fire protection engineering for a performance based design of the system. The fire suppression system is activated by a linear heat detection system which in turn activates the fire suppression system, protecting two 2-mile long tunnels. Our design role included fire modeling, live fire testing, and design of the fire protection system. The installation will be complete in late September with testing and commissioning of the system in October and completion in late November, 2015.
