Denver Health – Master Plan

Denver Health and Hospital Authority (DHHA) completed a Campus Master Plan focusing on both short term and long term facility growth and needs.  This report determined the DHHA Campus is poised to undergo a significant transformation over the next 10-30 years with currently proposed building development to increase the total square footage of the core campus by nearly 60%.  In order to support this growth, utility services needed to be expanded, or in some cases reconfigured.  BCER Engineering was contracted to provide a supplemental Central Utility Plant (CUP) Master Plan based on the projected demand for services, as well as aging and obsolete facilities on the DHHA Campus.  Our effort included the planning of a phased expansion of the CUP; projected utility service requirements for new facilities; the preservation or creation of dedicated utility corridors; and, utility system phased expansion which anticipates, and in some cases precedes, the eventual campus expansion and building development.  The significance of this master plan was the complete and total replacement of most, if not all, of the major structures currently on campus.  But equally significant is the impact to site utilities, most notably the Campus Utility Plant and various utility distribution systems that must be developed and maintained in order to support the proposed growth and expansion effort on this high density campus.
