Tivoli Student Union – Rehabilitiation and Renovation

BCER undertook the Master Plan study for the renovation and rehabilitation of the Tivoli Student Union on the AHEC Campus. The goal of the Master Plan was to identify specific solutions for issues with the building exterior, mechanical, electrical, fire alarm, and communications for the facility. As the study of the mechanical system progressed, the four systems were combined into the recommendation of a single HVAC system based on the feasibility of space, construction phasing, and considerations for keeping tenants in their spaces during construction. After the study, BCER provided fire protection, mechanical, and electrical engineering services for the rehabilitation and renovation of the facility. The project required collaboration with more than 18 user groups. The project entailed a new installation of mechanical systems, including a new central heating and chilled water plant new air handling units with distribution throughout, and the attendant power requirements for new systems. Electrical upgrades and modifications were also required to efficiently operate new mechanical equipment and to replace outdated systems. Finally, fire alarm systems and controls were upgraded for the facility.
