UCD – Student Commons Building
The University of Colorado Denver’s new Student Commons Building on the Auraria Higher Education Campus consisted of 120,000 sf of new construction that provides student support functions, classrooms, lecture halls, and academic department space. The project was the first one to be solely funded and occupied by the University of Colorado Denver, and it functions as a welcoming front door for the UCD “neighborhood” at AHEC. BCER designed the IT and telecom systems as well as the access control and video surveillance systems. After completion of the new facility, this project also included the backfill to renovate 68,000-sf of the UCD campus that had been vacated by the move to the new building. The building was completed in July 2014, and the backfill portion of the project was completed in 2015.
