Boulder Housing – High Mar Senior Living
BCER Engineering provided Mechanical and Electrical Engineering services for the High Mar Housing Project, a 2.19 acre site located in south Boulder. Boulder Housing Partners is developing the site with fifty-nine (59) low to moderate income residential units. The affordable housing covenant presently in place on the property includes twenty-three (23) units at or below 50% of the Area Median Income (AMI); twenty-four units at or below 40% of the AMI; and twelve units (12) with unrestricted rents. BCER was given the direction to provide energy efficient and environmentally friendly systems within a very tight budget. As a result the building design included sustainable strategies such as evaporative cooling for all common areas and corridors; heat-pump P-TACS and V-TACS to serve apartments; condensing gas-fired water heaters; low flow plumbing fixtures; dual flow faucet aerators; energy star lighting package; occupancy sensors in corridors; photo-sensors on balcony lighting (to prevent daytime operation); Energy Star appliance package; and raceways for future PV panels.
