CeDar – University of Colorado Hospital

The process for the construction of University of Colorado Hospital’s Center for Dependency, Addiction and Rehabilitation (CeDAR) located on the Fitzsimons Campus began in 2004. This unique, $14 million, 25-bed, state-of-the-art center is a residential evaluation and treatment facility for young adults and adults afflicted with chronic substance dependency and addiction. CeDAR is located on the Fitzsimons Campus and is divided between five new buildings including a renovation of the General’s House. The Main Support Building, which includes offices, meeting rooms, a shop, a dining area, and a warming kitchen, is approximately 20,000 sf. The surrounding buildings include two 8500-sf residential cottages, a 5500-sf assessment unit, and a 4400-sf exercise building. Such a groundbreaking facility presented unique design challenges, which BCER overcame in the Electrical and Mechanical Design process.
